Wengernalpahn is a 19.091 km long, 800 mil (2 ft 7.5 in) gauge rack railway line which runs from Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald -two branches- to Kleine Scheidegg, making it the world’s longest continuous rack and pinion railway.

MIB started in 1946 with battery powered motorcars on the former construction line of a powerplant. Today it is still orned by Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG (KWO) and powered with a 1200 Volts DC overhead line, 4,99 km lenght, 1000 mil track.

On the former Haarlemmermeer railway alignment a few sections are used as bus lane. Sad that nobody ever dreamed up rapid tramway routes with Hilversum, Schiphol, Aalsmeer and Amsterdam as important destinations.

and there used to be a Kiev – Wien Kurswagen as well…. Lucky this long distance connection is still there in this time of cheap air travel for the masses and simple minds. -
Trollybuses to all derections. Sadly again something wrong with the worn out tram tracks on the fare left, so no trams on June 30, 2012
Not beautiful but a good atmosphere. There are plans to build a new station. Simple 1 star hotel & restaurant in the old freight shed beside the station.
