When I started photographing railway ans tramway matters in 1974 most trains already were painted yellow. After the future vision “Spoorslags ’70” NS worked out also a new corporate image. Yellow and a new logo were adopted and the inland “40 Steden Tempo Trein” was introduced. Every hour an Intercity between the 40 most important stations. Connections granted on a number of crossing platforms. It worked out well. Over the years the number of passengers grew and grew. They even more than doubled.
Today such a plan would be renewing and refreshing again. Todays NS-Reizigers (passengers) have become a slow acting and inside looking company who completely forgot what service is. The best performance they would like to have seems to be running empty trains exactly on time.

27 mei 1981 (1788) A postmotor (in Dutch a Mp) in its original brown colour bud already with a yellow noose. With two vans it leaves Roosendaal for Breda. It is one of the very few colour negative films I ever used. -
NS253 and 1505 with DB110-234-2 When the railways were really still interested in boarder crossing connections there was a every two hour IC between Den Haag CS and Koeln over Breda and Venlo. In the seventies some off the coaches were pre WW 2 stock and former 1950 sleeper cars. It always was a nice train to travell with. In Venlo loco’s were changed. Mostly Dutch 1500 series (former BR) hauled the train in The Netherlands while the German part was mostly a 1100 series eloc 18-8-1975 -

Zwolle 16 May 1976 with an unindentified coach representing the first large NS electric series mat24. I have rode these cars back in 1963 and later as locomotive hauled coaches in the early seventies. The wooden banches and the old fashioned interior were from a different area. It indeed woke my interest in the railway scene. Railway police office -
